Premier League: Team News for United v Arsenal
Team News for United v Arsenal
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the team’s squad ahead of their Premier League clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Though pundits expect Arsenal, the return of a few first team players may prove them wrong.
And while there are some positive developments, there are also a few setbacks.
Return of Fernandes and McTominay vs Arsenal
It’s good news for United fans as Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay have returned to training after missing the previous match against Crystal Palace.
Their presence on the pitch will undoubtedly boost the team’s performance against Arsenal. Ten Hag expressed his hope for more players to be available for the game.
Ten Hag had this to say; “I hope I have players [back and available], yeah. But there are players that did train this morning.”
Mason Mount’s Absence
Unfortunately, there is a setback for United as Mason Mount will not be available for the match.
He picked up a fresh issue that will sideline him for the penultimate home game of the season.
Ten Hag reported, “Yesterday, Mason Mount fell out [of contention]. So he will not be available for Sunday.”
Potential Returns of Martinez and Rashford
Still, there is some optimism surrounding the potential returns of Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford.
Martinez, who has been out due to injury, has shown eagerness to play against Arsenal.
However, Ten Hag believes it may be too early for him to be involved.
Regarding Rashford, the manager stated, “Rashy, of course, he trained this morning as well. We have to see how he recovered from this. But I think it looks quite good, and I hope he can tomorrow make the next training and then see if he is available for Sunday.”
Shaw’s Delayed Return and Other Absences
Luke Shaw’s return has been delayed due to a setback in his recovery process.
However, Ten Hag remains hopeful that the England left-back will be able to feature again before the end of the season.
As for Willy Kambwala, Victor Lindelof, and Raphael Varane, there is no update on their availability. Their absences have led to Casemiro filling in at centre-back in the last four games.
Additionally, Harry Maguire is aiming to be fit for the FA Cup final after suffering a muscle injury.
Arsenal Team News vs United
Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, provided an update on the team’s squad ahead of their match against Manchester United. While there are a few doubts, the overall squad looks to be in good health.
Arteta mentioned that Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu are among the players with some doubts.
Tomiyasu was not spotted in training earlier in the week, while Saka endured a couple of rough tackles in their previous match against Bournemouth.
However, the rest of the squad seems to be largely healthy for the trip to Manchester.
Jurrien Timber is still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury, which has limited his playing time in his debut season.
He has been gradually stepping up his recovery with the club’s under-21s.
Reiss Nelson has been missing from Arsenal’s last two matchday squads, but there is no further information about his absence.
In conclusion, both Manchester United and Arsenal have some key players returning to the squad.
The upcoming match promises to be an exciting clash between two top Premier League teams.
Who do you think will win the contest? Will Arsenal keep their premier league title hopes alive or will united return to their winning ways. Comment and come back for more.
