5 Most intriguing behind-the-scenes soccer stories.
Here are 5 adrenaline soccer stories. From Maradona, Leicester, to Zinedine Zidane, be with us.
Someone said that “people who love soccer can stop the devil if he apears uninvited”.

Simply because unexpected things happen in soccer that border on craziness or something in between.
Here are 5 adrenaline stories in football. Number 1 and 4 amazed me most.
1. The “Maradona Hand of God” Incident
Picture this. It’s the 1986 FIFA World Cup quarter-final match between Argentina and England. Great soccer skills. Nothing could separate the titans.

Then, bang. Argentine legend Diego Maradona jumps, misses the header, but in a flash scores a goal with his hand. So fast that the referee couldn’t notice it. Fortunately VAR wasn’t born at that time.
This incident, known as the “Hand of God,” caused uproar and controversy. Maradona (RIP) later admitted to an intentional handball.
2. Zinedine Zidane’s Headbutt
2006 FIFA World Cup final between France and Italy. We’re seated comfortably enjoying a an entertaining match.
Then, bang. French midfielder Zinedine Zidane stunned the world by headbutting Italian defender Marco Materazzi in the chest during extra time.
Silly of him as he made France weak. Some people say that Materazzi called Zinedine Zidane an immature idiot.
Or the “other thing” (no pun intended). You may tell us what he was called too).
Zidane, one of the game’s greatest players, was sent off, and Italy went on to win the match in a penalty shootout.
The reason behind Zidane’s sudden outburst remains a subject of speculation.
3. Leicester City’s Premier League Triumph
It’s the 2015-2016 English Premier League season. Leicester, a small team with modest resources, defied all odds to win the title.
Annoyingly, Leicester kept winning by one goal. Everyone kept ignoring them.
But, manager Claudio Ranieri and star players like Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez kept them going. Soon, they became irrititating.
Giants panicked. Fortunately, their nearest team was the best England team that gets near trophies but shies away. (Guess the team).
Talk of underdogs turning into ‘overdogs’
4. The Miracle of Istanbul
It’s half time in the 2005 UEFA Champions League final. Liverpool versus AC Milan. The score board reads-Liverpool 0, AC Milan 3. Game over.
But wait. Liverpool had other ideas for one of the greatest soccer comebacks ever. Second-half starts.
Livepool scores 1, 2, yes, 3 goals to level the score at 3-3. Then, bang! Penalties and Liverpool wins the title with manager Rafael Benítez.
5. The Rise of Lionel Messi
A small boy from Argentina with stunted growth shows some soccer skills in the steets of Rosario. Lady luck smiles.

Someone notices the growth hormone deficiency. Takes the boy to Barcelona for special teatment. In a short time, the boy signs a soccer contract with Barcelona on a napkin.
Pure genious. Boy grows, wins the most Ballon’dors and scores tons of goals. (Do you remember the boy? Amazing.
Such soccer stories of drama, passion, and intrigue keep millions of soccer fans like me and you mad with passion. Agreed? Subscribe and share.
