Aston Villa’s UEFA Conference League Hopes End
Aston Villa’s hopes of reaching their first European final since 1982 were dashed by Olympiakos. Notably, they lost 2-0 on the night to Olympiacos in the Europa Conference League semi-final.
In the end, it was Olympiakos 6-2 Aston Villa on aggregate. Amazing for Olympiakos.

Olympiakos 2-0 Aston Villa
Ayoub El Kaabi, who scored a hat-trick in the first leg, continued to haunt Villa by netting two goals in the second leg, sealing their fate.
Olympiacos will now face Fiorentina in the final on Wednesday, May 29, in Athens. Fiorentina had beaten Club Brugge 3-4 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw. Fiorenta had won the first leg 3-2 in Italy.
In the match, Emiliano Martinez returned in goal for Villa, but despite their efforts, they couldn’t overcome the deficit.
Villa’s focus now shifts to their upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool.
A win over Liverpool could secure them fourth place and a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

What Now for the England Premier League?
Despite boasting that the English premier league is the best league, neither Aston Villa or any other epl team made it to the final. Instead, England will watch helplessly as the Champions leaguue final takes place on it’s own London stadium between Germany (Dortmund) and Spain (Real Madrid).
Elsewhere, Germany (Leverkusen) and Italy (Atalanta) will fight for the Europa League trophy. And as earlier mentioned, Greece will fight to beat Italy in the Conference final. Clearly,, it’s a wake up call for England to rethink its fixture scheduling to help its clubs.
