Premier League: Arsenal Whip Newcastle As Man U Fall
Premier League: Arsenal Whip Newcastle As Man U Fall
What a premier league day for Manchester United, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Manchester City.
Just like we predicted in our premier league predictions, Saturday’s premier league results went according to our script.
In the end, only the erratic Manchester United failed to live to its billing when falling to a dominant Fulham by 2 goals to 1.
And it was no more than they deserved as they had equalized in the 89th minute through Harry Maguire after an almost sure loss.
However, Fulham struck in the 97th minute through Alex Iwobi to rightfully claim 3 valuable points. Earlier, Calvin Bassey had struck for Fulham in the 65th minute.
Arsenal Blanks Newcastle
Elsewhere, Arsenal showed a hapless Newcastle how to win without the help of Var. Arsenal created many chances in a dominant show which restricted Newcastle to just one touch in the Arsenal box for the entire first half.
But, for lack of finishing instincts, Arsenal had to settle for 2 goals in the first half from Gabriel (later termed as an own goal), and a Havertz close finish from a Bukayo Saka perfect assist.
Arsenal’s dominance showed as they mastered 18 shots with 8 on target against Newcastles’s 3, and only 2 on target.
Then, Bukayo Saka popped with his goal in the 65th minute, with Jacob Kibior putting the ice on the cake in 9th minute.
Arsenal product Joe Willock snatched an 89th minute consolation. In the end, it was a soccer revenge dish served hot in a 4-1 result after the VAR controversy in the first leg.
Crystal Palace Humble Burnley In The Premier League
In other news, Crystal Palace went to their store and fetched their soccer goals scoring boots against a sorry Burnley.
The goals came late on after a goal-less first half. Soccer goals by Chris Richards (68), Jordan Ayew (71), and Jan Mateta (79) sealed the win.
Unfortunately for Burnley, they played with 10 men after a Josh Brownhill red card in the 35th minute.
Manchester City Edge Bournemouth
Manchester City survived a Bournemouth scare in a balanced match to win 1-0 with a Fodden goal to remain second to Liverpool and a point above Arsenal in the premier league table.
Everton Hold Brighton
Just like we predicted in our premier league predictions, Game week 26, Brighton equalized in the 95th minute via Lewis Dunk to deny Everton the 3 points.
This despite playing with 10 men from the 81st minute when Gilmour saw red. Everton had taken the lead in the 73rd minute though Branthwaite.
Aston Villa Dance Past Nottingham Forest
Olie Watkins opened the scoring in the premier league for Villa against a hard fighting Forest. Douglas Luiz added 2 soccer goals (29, 39).
Leon Bailey (61) sealed the win Notts Forest had threatened a comeback with goals from Moussa Niakate (first half injury time 45+6) and Gibbs-White (48).
Notably, the win kept Villa in the top four with 52 points in the premier league table, 5 adrift of Arsenal (58) in 3rd.
